Engineering Design for Shintaku Dekina Ayangba Road in Kogi State : Cost $120,000.oo USD
Zephyrgold was commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Works in Nigeria to undertake the design for the Shintaku Dekina Ayangba Road in Kogi State. The road is about 80Km length. It is all a 2-lane single-carriageway to be maintained and rehabilitated in the new proposed engineering design. Although about 27km from shintaku is ordinarily earth road. A lot of ferry activities takes place at Shintaku. Scope of work consisted of the following:
A. Inventory of the existing road
B. Prepare of preliminary drawings for the horizontal and vertical design throughout the alignment in scales of 1 to 2000 and 1 to 200 respectively
C. Evaluate and prepare design of the horizontal and vertical profiles and the detailed pavement design requirements
D. Prepare and submit contract documents: Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME), plan and profile, cross-sections at 25meter intervals along the horizontal alignment for all earthwork quantities and take-off computations

Engineering Design of 2.3Km Bridge Over River Niger at Shintaku, Nigeria: Cost $ 1.3 Million USD
The Federal Ministry of Works, Nigeria in their enormous project for the rehabilitation and construction of new bridges has planned the construction of bridge over River Niger at Shintaku in Kogi State. Zephyrgold was commissioned to undertake the design of the Shintaku bridge. The scope of work included the following:
- Economic Feasibility
- Environmental Impact Assessment

- Preliminary Soil Investigations
- Field Survey
- Bridge and Drainage Investigations
- Preliminary Design
- Estimation of Quantities
- Detailed engineering Designs
- Engineering Plans
- Construction Quantities
- Bidding and Contract Documents
Cost, budget and financial control, quality control during construction, supervision of construction and inspection, maintenance and repairs during performance stage, are factors considered in the choice of the structural system adopted. The Bridge will be about 2,300m in length. Box girder bridge system is proposed, considering the length of the bridge involved. They may be fabricated from post-stressed concrete or precast concrete boxes. If of concrete, they may be cast in place using falsework supports, removed after completion, or may be prefabricated in a fabrication yard, then transported and emplaced using cranes. The later method is often used in situation where access for construction is limited to times of light traffic, which may be detoured around the work area using only a limited number of lanes.

Base map Development for Damaturu Water Supply Project. World Bank: Cost $24,500 USD
Zephyrgold was commissioned by Dar al-handasah, Kano to develop a base map for the citie of Damaturu. A World Bank Project been undertaken by Dar al. The data available consisted of: (a) Cadastre information collected at different time periods; (b) Local ground control points; (c) Miscellaneous small scale maps; and (d) Cadastral maps available in CAD format but with bad positional accuracy and major inconsistencies. The methodology adopted for the development of the base map for the city of Khartoum included:
- Acquisition of IKONOS high resolution satellite imagery with 80 cm resolution
- Ortho-rectification of satellite imagery using a DTM generated GPS ground control points
- Horizontal accuracy of ortho-rectification was 2 to 3 m.
- Conversion of CAD cadastral data into GIS format
- Correction of parcel data using satellite imagery
- Digitization of street center lines, buildings, parcels, and trees
- Buildings larger than 6×6 m were represented by foot prints while smaller buildings were represented
Detail work also includes, but not limited to the following: (i) Well location, (ii) Well design, (iii) geophysical logging and borehole location, (iv) aqifer testing and groundwater sampling, and (v) preparation of technical specifications for electromechnical works. In addition, services provided includes construction management and testing services for a proposed Earth Dam in Potiskum.

Design and Supervision of Okopedi- Oron James Road in Akwa Ibom State: Cost $ 130,000 USD
Zephyrgold was commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Works in Nigeria to conduct full design and supervision of the 48 km road connecting Okopedi to OronJames. This project is regarded as one of the most vital projects in Nigeria as it improves the on accessibility into Akwa Ibom State. This project consisted of the following components:
- Design of Horizontal Alignments

- Design of Vertical Alignments
- Design of Cross-sections
- Drainage Design
- Design of Three Interchanges
- Structural Design of Retaining Walls
- Structural Design of Five Bridges
- Structural Design of Channels and Culverts
Both geometric and structural designs made use of the most sophisticated software technology present. The project also made use of GIS technology and high-resolution satellite images. IKONOS satellite images were acquired for the 48 Km long road, orthorectified, and used in determining horizontal alignment of highway. Detailed engineering drawings were all managed within the GIS environment. The GIS was also used to monitor the progress of work and for the generation of quantities and payment certificates. Zephyrgold was also responsible for the supervision of the project by providing a team composed of a chief resident engineer, a principal resident engineer, two resident engineers, a surveyor, a lab technician, and the support staff. Mothercat Construction Company was the contractor.
